Dishwasher Maintenance Tips
How to Maintain Your Dishwasher

Millions of Americans benefit from the convenience that dishwashers provide us in our daily lives. They allow us to simply load and unload our dishes. The unit itself does the entire cleaning and drying process for you. There is no need to hand wash dishes when you have a dishwasher. It should be noted that your dishwasher works hard and experiences a lot of wear and tear to clean your dishes for you. You should regularly maintain it to ensure that it is working the best it can and will last longer. Here are some tips to help you do that.
- Clean the Filter: If your dishwasher has a filter, remove and clean it. A dirty filter can impair the cleaning process.
- Clean the Spray Arm: Wipe your spray arm with a damp towel. It is recommended that you remove the spray arm twice a year and clear any blockages with a toothpick. Reference your owner’s manual on how to safely remove the spray arm.
- Clean the Door & Seals: Your door has seals around it that prevent water from leaking out. Regularly wiping your rubber seals prevents dirt and grime from building up. Dirty seals can be prone to leaks. You can even use a drop of dish soap on a damp cloth to help clean the seals.
